Structural Design
Hansen Becker Engineering provides structural designs for new construction, building additions, and renovations. We work with architects, owners, and developers to offer our engineering expertise from feasibility studies to final construction documents. We specialize in low and mid-rise structures using concrete, structural steel, and light gauge steel. We design foundations including spread footings, piles (helical, caisson, friction), and mat slabs.
Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing Design
Hansen Becker Engineering provides mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designs for multi-family residential buildings, commercial buildings, and tenant fit-outs. We specialize in VRF/heat pump system design to satisfy heating and cooling demands. We prepare cross connection and site connection designs for NYC DEP approval.
Sprinkler & Fire Alarm Design
We provide wet sprinkler, dry sprinkler, manual and automatic standpipe design services for residential, commercial and industrial buildings. We prepare automatic fire alarm design drawings for FDNY approval.
Support of Excavation & Underpinning Design
Hansen Becker Engineering serves the tri-state area with support of excavation and underpinning designs. We specialize in utility trench shoring, cantilever and braced soldier pile wall systems, underpinning, and open cut slope stability designs. Our services also include pre-construction and post-construction photo reports, and third party forensic engineering reports.
Construction Support Services
We provides construction support engineering to contractors in the tri-state area. We work with contractors to provide job specific drawings and details to facilitate construction activities.
We prepare shoring and reshoring design drawings for high rise cast-in-place concrete buildings. Our formwork drawings provide typical layouts and pour rates to help avert formwork blow-outs. We provide fall arrest and safety netting drawings in compliance with OSHA and NYC Building Code requirements to ensure the safety of your workers.

Special Inspections
Hansen Becker Engineering is an IAS Accredited Special Inspection Agency providing inspections to all five Boroughs of New York City. We perform Special Inspections for Long Island in accordance with the NYS Building Code.
Solar Panel Systems
At HBE we provide full support of commercial solar panel systems, from evaluation of existing buildings for solar PV system loads to solar photovoltaic system design drawings. We are a special inspection agency, and can perform inspections during the solar panel system installation.
Vibration Monitoring
Vibration monitoring is a growing service utilized during excavation and construction activities in New York City. Hansen Becker Engineering provides both remote and on site monitoring services for construction sites. Our monitoring services include weekly summaries of vibration monitoring activity and email notifications when vibrations exceed the specified monitoring limits. As every site is different we encourage you to contact us to discuss your vibration monitoring needs.
Local Law 37 Retaining Wall
Under Local Law 37, retaining walls in New York City that are at least 10 feet high and face a public right of way must be inspected every 5 years and assessed for stability. Hansen Becker Engineering is an NYC Qualified Retaining Wall Inspector (QRWI). We perform Local Law 37 inspections and prepare repair drawings, as necessary, for your wall to be compliant.
